The hopes of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) were dashed on Friday when a High Court of the FCT refused his application for stay of his prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Dasuki had argued through his lawyer that the EFCC disobeyed a court order granting him bail on November 3, 2015, by continuing to hold him in detention.
However, the trial judge, Justice Peter Affen, said that information contained in the affidavit before the court proved that it was the Department of State Services (DSS) that rearrested Dasuki, and not EFCC.
The judge equally held that the argument by the ex-NSA that the DSS and EFCC were the same because they are both agencies of the Federal Government did not hold water.
Furthermore, the judge dismissed Dasuki’s application to stop his trial and quash the charges levelled against him.
