Reports making the rounds on social media say an official of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Benue State allegedly shut down an eatery, Star Shawarma and arrested the owner and staff following a disagreement over 1,600.
According to a report by @CollinsUma, the female EFCC Official, Hembafan Toryila led six armed police officers to shut down the restaurant and arrest the owner and staff whom she charged with attempted fraud after a misunderstanding involving a shawarma worth N1,500.
Hembafan had ordered and paid for one shawarma at the restaurant worth N1,500 via transfer. She made a transfer of N1,600 instead of the original amount.

This created confusion with the management of the restaurant who were expecting a credit alert of N1,500 not N1,600. They assumed the N1,600 was for another transaction and therefore kept reminding Ms. Hembafan to make payment for her shawarma.
After checking their bank statement however, the management of Star Shawarma realised that Ms. Hembafan made a payment of N1,600 and subsequently called to explain and apologise for any embarrassment caused.
Ms. Hembafan however refused to be placated and vowed to deal with the the restaurant and the management mercilessly. She subsequently invaded the Business with armed men and whisked all the staff and management away to an EFCC cell in Makurdi on Wednesday.
While her staff were released, the owner of Star Shawarma, Miss Ato was detained till 9:45 pm before she was released. She was subsequently charged with attempted fraud and asked to report to the EFCC State headquarters the next day.
According to other local sources, Ms. Ato was expected to be charged to court for attempted fraud despite pleas from prominent people in the state for Ms. Hembafan to drop the case.
