The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Mr Adeyemi Edun, the real estate agent who helped former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke acquire prime properties in the United Kingdom.
Edun is believed to have assisted Diezani acquire luxury properties worth millions of pounds.
The suspected was reportedly nabbed by the anti-graft body on Wednesday, just after he landed in Nigeria.
He is said to be cooling his feet with the body in its Ikoyi, Lagos office.
The spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the arrest, saying that Edun was being held in connection to “Diezani’s multiple corrupt schemes”, but failed to give details.
Prosecutors in the UK and the United States have linked Edun to properties worth £8.3 million bought for Nigerian businessmen for the ultimate use of the notorious former petroleum minister.
He has constantly denied any wrongdoing, saying the transactions were conducted within the ambit of the law.
