Obanikoro to Testify Against Fayose as EFCC Charges former Governor to Court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has hit Ayodele Fayose with court charges in a bid to prosecute the former Governor.

In a report from TheCable, an official of the commission disclosed this to the news agency.

The source added that Fayose could be arraigned as early as next week.

The former Ekiti governor had stormed the EFCC offices in Abuja flanked by Governor Nyesome Wike and Femi Fani Kayode as he went in to be interrogated.

Photos of houses allegedly owned by the former Ekiti state governor were released by the anti-graft agency and it was insinuated that he profited heavily from the scandal involving former security chief, Sambo Dasuki.

Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the commission announced that investigation was ongoing in the case with the charismatic governor.

“In the course of investigating corruption allegations against ex-governor Ayodele Fayose, especially the N1.3billion which he collected from the office of the National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki, the Commission unearthed evidence that he laundered the funds into the acquisition of properties in choice locations in Abuja and Lagos,” Uwujaren said.

The governor has been adamant that he has done nothing wrong and that all of this is an elaborate attempt to bring him down.
