The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared the immediate-past Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, wanted.
Sunday Tribune reported, quoting an unnamed security official, that the anti-graft agency has asked the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest the former governor “anywhere he is seen” in the country.
Recall that Matawalle had in May accused now-suspended EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa of demanding $2 million bribe from him.
The EFCC vehemently denied the allegation, accusing Matawalle of trying to smear the commission’s leadership to divert attention from his N7o billion misappropriation investigation.
Matawalle has reportedly gone into hiding since his tenure expired on May 29, causing the EFCC to declare him wanted and seek the DSS’ assistance to apprehend him.
