A Federal High Court Judge, Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia has been arrested by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after her claim to be admitted in a hospital was busted.
The judge on Wednesday morning was reported to have avoided the EFCC’s two-day-old invitation by claiming she was on admission at a medical facility located in Ikoyi, Lagos state.
Ofili-Ajumogobia reportedly claimed she was admitted at the ‘Intensive Care Unit’ of the hospital and thus could not honour the invitation by the EFCC to explain her connection with an ongoing anti-graft case.
The EFCC detectives however upon investigating the claim found out that the judge had not been to the Golden Cross Hospital located on Bourdillon Road in Ikoyi since October 13, 2016.
Further investigations revealed that one of the medical facility staff was trying to insert the judge’s name into the records of patients on admission.
The EFCC officials upon the discovery reportedly called the judge to find out about her whereabouts to which she dropped tehe call upon discovering that her racket had been busted.
The EFCC officials told SaharaReporters that the medical director of the hospital has been invited to explain his role in the situation.
