Fast-rising Nigerian musician, Afeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He is presently being questioned in the anti-graft agency’s Lagos Office, Premium Times quoted a top official of the commission as saying.
Although the commission has not disclosed why it picked up the Issa Goal crooner, it is believed to be connected with his glorification of internet fraudsters popular called Yahoo Boys.
The arrest also comes a day after Naira Marley released a collaboration with Zlatan titled “Am I A Yahoo”.
The Herald recalls that Naira Marley recently praised Yahoo Boys in an Instagram Live video.
He said, “All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it’s the government that is making the money go round? You better sit down and pray for yahoo boys. If them stop yahoo, the money would not pass you guys.
“The money will go like this, from Obasanjo to Tinubu, from Tinubu to Mr Japa, you think me I need Yahoo? I make money from my music.”
