Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a state of emergency in the three North Eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, which are most affected by Boko Haram insurgency.
He said the declaration would help bring the nine-year-old insurgency to a quick end.
Clark, a former Federal Commissioner of Information, said removal of the three state governors would greatly assist the onslaught on insurgents.
He disclosed this in an open letter addressed to Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and read to newsmen at his residence in Abuja on Monday.
The nonagenarian said Governors Bindo Jibrilla (Adamawa), Kashim Shettima (Borno) and Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe) were doing nothing but frustrating the Federal Government’s efforts to quell the insurgency.
He advocated for the appointment of senior military officers as sole administrators to replace the governors until the insurgency is brought to an end.
The prominent Ijaw leader urged Malami to use his position to advise the president to declare the state of emergency.
He said the insurgency would end quickly if the president declared the state of emergency and mandated the military to rid the region of Boko Haram terrorists in six months.
