A group, Concerned Orhionmwon indigenes and Lovers of Democracy, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the September 19 gubernatorial election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of plotting to procure fake military uniforms and ammunition for political thugs.
The aim, the group alleged, was to rig the forthcoming elections for the APC candidate.
In a Monday statement, which was shared on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Facebook page, the group accused Ize-Iyamu and a former Member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Etinosa Ogbeiwi, of procuring “some military attires from one of the Nigerian Army barracks”.
The group also shared a controversial video showing the APC candidate addressing some youths he called “Lions and Tigers”.
The video in early August caused some groups to petition President Muhammadu Buhari to call Ize-Iyamu and former National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to order over alleged “inciting comments to cause violence”.
The groups alleged that Ize-Iyamu held a clandestine meeting with group of political thugs in his private residence with a view to mobilising them “to collectively move from different polling units, wards to local government area “in order to “obtain favourable results for him.”
The Concerned Orhionmwon indigenes and Lovers of Democracy added, “The report is closely linked with one of the perfected plans to import fake soldiers which will be distributed accross the polling units in Edo state.
“The fake military men will be positioned to cause mayhem, violence that will disrupt the conduct of a credible poll in the September 19 Gubernatorial Election.
