There has been much talk about who would replace the giant void left behind by Ronaldo’s shocking departure for the Serie A champions.
Paris Saint Germain duo of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have been tipped to replace the 33-year-old five-time Ballon D’Or winner, but it appears Hazard is bracing himself to step into Ronaldo’s shoes at the Bernabeu.
Laudrup, 49, said Hazard told him he was seriously considering a move to the 13th-time European champions.
The 27-year-old Belgian is presently gearing up for a third-place showdown with England at the ongoing 2018 World Cup in Russia. The game kicks off at 3pm Nigerian time.
Laudrup said, “I spoke to Eden Hazard a few days ago, he is preparing for a move to Real Madrid and it is a good move both for him and for Real.
“Again in Russia, he proved how good he is.”
Hazard enjoyed a tumultuous few seasons under manager Antonio Conte, who was sacked on Friday.
Although former Napoli manager, Maurizio Sarri has been unveiled as Conte’s replacement, it remains to be seen if he will be able to convince Hazard to stay.
