Easter celebration in Southern Kaduna was masked with gloom and bloodbath after unknown gunmen reportedly stormed Asso community in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state resulting in the death of 13 persons said to be Christians.
The attackers who left several dead in their wake are yet unknown as there are speculations that the recent attack is part of the Southern Kaduna violence involving the Fulani Herdsmen and local farming communities.
Speaking regarding the attack, the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai through his spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement issued condemned the attack and further condoled with the bereaved.
The state governor in the statement further promised increased security operations in the forest areas to rid the are of bandits.
The state governor’s spokesperson further maintained that the governor has launched the “Operation Harbin Kunama II” aimed at helping the Army deal with the armed men responsible for the Southern Kaduna massacres.
