Easter: NGO urges Christians to seek God’s Intervention on COVID-19

Mr Williams Osaze, President, Society for the Promotion of People’s Rights, an NGO, has urged Christians to use the Easter period to seek God’s intervention on COVID-19.

Osaze said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, in Abuja.

He described the observance of Easter by Christians marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which, he said, was the basis of Christians’ salvation.

According to him, even though government has warned everyone to stay home and avoid large gatherings, Christians should celebrate Easter in their various homes with prayers and supplications.

“Christians should not relent because of the lockdown. Rather, they should use this period to gather their families to seek the face of God and ask for His quick intervention on the Coronavirus pandemic.

“I am urging all Christians to always pray in oneness for help from above, because the Scripture says that the fervent prayers of the righteous availeth much,” he said.

The NGO president noted that the COVID-19 pandemic had prevented Christians from gathering in their various churches, just as it happened during the time of Jesus Christ.

“So, Christians should not see government’s order on social distancing as a setback to their prayers.

“They should not also think that their prayers will not be answered simply because they are not gathering in their various churches; they should believe that God is everywhere.

“I want to use this season to encourage Christians not to worry about the pandemic ravaging the globe. With their fervent prayers, God will put an end to it,” he said.

Osaze advised Christians to always pray for divine wisdom and God’s guidance for the nation’s leaders to enable them combat the deadly Coronavirus.
