A cross section of the clergies who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna said there was no better time than now to offer prayers to God against the pandemic which was threatening human existence the world over.

Pastor Niyi Omotosho of Word Alive Church, Sabo old NAN that the Good Friday reminds Christians on the suffering of Christ and how he laid His life for their sins.

He added that there was need for Believers to emulate such sacrificial lifestyle by offering prayers to God especially for those passing through difficult times.

“We must stand up with one voice and cry out to God for mercy over our Nation and the Nation’s of the earth so that this evil will be taken away,” he admonished.

Omotosho, who said Nigeria should consider itself fortunate not to have recorded high loss of lives to the virus,  however, cautioned that the people should respect Government’s directive to stay at home and pray from their closets.

Rv. Fr. Philip Christopher of St. Peters Catholic Church, Trikaniya said special prayers had been offered in commemoration of the Good Friday with specific prayers to God against the COVID-19.

“We encourage the Church of Christ not to give up especially during difficult times like the one we have found ourselves but instead, look up to God for rescue and solace,” he added.

Pastor Ibrahim Silas of Fountain Life Assembly, Ungwan Yelwa-Television said Christians must bear in mind that trying times don’t last forever.

“We must at this times, be patient with one another, obey constituted authorities and pray fervently.

“The Government means well for the people and is doing the best it can to regulate the possible spread of the virus, a situation we pray never to find ourselves.

“I advise church members to fast today and be deliberate with their prayers against the monstrous coronavirus,” he said.

Meanwhile, churches visited were seen to have complied with the State Government’s directive by keeping the building under lock.
