Popular DSTV channel E! Entertainment (DStv channel 124 and GOtv channel 26) have a large number of reality shows they offer which are popular with Nigerians such as Keeping up with the Kardashians, Giuliana and Bill and so on.
Also on air was controversial show ‘I am Cait’ which chronicles the journey of Caitlin Jenner formerly Bruce Jenner through life as a woman.
The show has now been yanked off DSTV channels due to heavy pressure from Nigerians who don’t want the show on air due to its nature and perceived message. They believe the show is not morally wholesome for children.
Multichoice, the owners of DSTV released a statement in which they acknowledged the complaints they were getting and their resolve to regularly assess the impact their content has on their customers.
The decision was also based on a directive from the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission to take the show off the air.
