The Department of State Services, DSS, has arrested Ekiti Lawmakers in connection with the ongoing link between the lawmakers and their involvement in an alleged fraud that characterized the last Governorship election in the state.

Following the claim by the former Ekiti State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Temitope Aluko that the previous administration led by President Goodluck Jonathan handed $35 million to the now Governor of the state, Fayose, to prosecute the election.

Dr. Aluko further added that the former President had earlier issued $2 million to Fayose in order to secure the state’s primary election. All allegations has since been denied by the State Governor.

Following the whistle blowing by the former state Secretary of the PDP, the DSS has launched investigations into the matter, conducting security and background checks into the named individuals.

The arrested lawmakers are Mr. Afolabi Akani representing Efon Alaye Constituency and Mr. Musa Arogundade representing Ado Ekiti Constituency 1.

The DSS has also arrested the recently sacked Chairman of State Internal Revenue Board, Mr. Ropo Ogunjobi.

Sources however indicate that more arrests will be made in the coming days as up to 25 names are yet to be crossed out of the DSS’ invitation and interrogation list.
