The war on terror may have yielded more fruits as a Boko Haram kingpin on the list of the top 100 insurgents wanted by the Nigeria Army has been apprehended.
The suspected terrorist identified as Danladi Abdullahi was arrested by the Borno State Command of the Department of State Services (DSS) at Moduganari area of Maiduguri metropolis on Saturday.
Abdullahi is believed to be the 26th on the wanted list released by the Army in October.
It will be recalled that another suspect believed to be on the list was apprehended while trying to board a flight from Abuja to Lagos earlier in the month (November).
In a statement commending the DSS’ vigilance, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai praised them for their continued support in the war against Boko Haram.
The statement made through acting Army spokesman, Sani Usman, read in part: “The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, personally wishes to commend the DSS especially Borno State Command, for this singular act, resilience and continued support and cooperation in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.
“The DSS has over times proven to be dependable and partners in the quest for a secured Nigeria.
“We would also like to reiterate that the fight against this security menace is a collective responsibility, therefore, we shall continue to solicit for public’s support, cooperation and understanding as we finally quench the remaining dying embers of the Boko Haram terrorists in our country.”
The statement said investigations are still ongoing to ensure that Abdullahi is truly who he is thought to be.
