An unidentified driver hit and killed a masquerade on Nwaniba road in the Use Offot area of Akwa Ibom capital, Uyo Thursday evening.
The death of the masquerade reportedly sent residents of the area into confusion.
The driver, who was said to be on high speed, reportedly swerved dangerously while trying to avoid another motorist and rammed into the masquerade that was walking along the road.
According to witnesses, the masquerade popularly known as “ekpo” was unable to see the vehicle in time due to the mask on his face and was knocked unconscious.
He reportedly died on the road.
Police authorities in the state confirmed the incident.
