Dr. Ameyo Adadevoh died yesterday afternoon after battling with the Ebola Virus Disease passed on to her by Patrick Sawyer.
The member of the First Consultants Hospital medical team was one of those who had primary contact with Sawyer when he was rushed to receive medical attention after collapsing at the airport.
Adadevoh who was initially thought to have survived and been discharged from the Isolation facility in Yaba was confirmed dead by Health Minister, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu last night.
“With this unfortunate development the total number of Ebola Virus related deaths in Nigeria now stands at five. The other two patients currently under treatment in the isolation wards are stable and are being taken care of,” the minister said through his spokesman, Dan Nwomeh.
Tributes on social media have been pouring in to celebrate the Doctor who is described as a heroine due to her efforts to prevent Sawyer from spreading the virus.
