Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, in an interview with BBC Hausa, criticized her husband, President Buhari’s method of leadership.
Mrs. Aisha Buhari said she may not support her husband in the next coming elections if he doesn’t shake up his cabinet so as to steer Nigeria out of its economic recession.
This interview has sparked a lot of controversy, to which Mr. President replied with a tasteless jibe, saying, “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to but she belongs to the kitchen, my living room and the bedroom.”
While most persons have reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s reply, the Washington Post has written an article on it.
According to the Washington Post, “if you think Donald Trump has any problems, consider those of Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari. Elected last year as a no-nonsense candidate to clean up Africa’s biggest democracy, his popularity has fallen amid various spiraling crises-a faltering economy, a deadly insurgency, a devastating famine, and now even his wife is skeptical.”
There is wide speculation that Aisha Buhari opened up because her own chosen figures did not win the desired posts in office.
