Don says FG should investigate reasons for deductions of workers salaries

2 Min Read

Dr Alabi Thomas, the Head, Educational Technology Federal University of Technology Minna has called on the Federal Government to investigate the rationale behind the deduction in November salaries of federal civil servants.

Thomas made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Thursday.

He said that the matter needed thoroughly investigation as to the rationale behind the decrease in salaries of the workforce of the Federal Government.

He said that rather than the Federal Government summoning the political will to increase minimum wage, it was decreasing the little salaries of its workforce.

He said that considering the present economic reality on ground, Federal Government should focus on increasing the salaries to motivate its workers for smooth implementation of its policies and programmes.

Thomas said that if Federal Government failed to investigate the motives behind tampering of federal workers’ salaries, states and local government would follow suit.

He observed that tampering of workers’ salaries would give room for private organisations to tamper with the little salaries of their respective workers.

“Nigerians voted the present administration for positive change and is time for the government to come out with policies and programmes that will enhance the wellbeing of Nigerians, ” he said.( NAN)
