Mavin Records CEO, Don Jazzy, has disclosed that he prevents his artistes from releasing music on the same day as Wizkid or Asake, citing it as “suicidal” due to the duo’s massive success in the streaming era.
In a podcast interview, Don Jazzy explained that Mavin Records is shifting from traditional Friday release dates to Wednesdays and Thursdays to avoid clashing with Wizkid and Asake’s releases. He emphasized that releasing music on the same day as the duo would lead to his artistes being overshadowed.
Don Jazzy’s strategy aims to give his artistes, including Rema, Ayra Starr, and Crayon, a better chance to shine in the competitive music industry.
