Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has called on Nigerians to be patient with President Buhari and give him time to deliver on his campaign promises.
Dogara who made this plea during a Christmas service at the Church of Christ in Nations, Gwarangah in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi state on Friday, December 25, assured Nigerians that Buhari would deliver on his promises.
The speaker in a statement by his special adviser on media and public affairs, Mr. Turaki Hassan, implored Nigerians to exercise patience if they felt that the change promised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government was not coming as fast as they wanted.
He alluded to the fact that Nigeria had its own peculiar problems just like other countries in Europe who are struggling with refugees and Arab countries who are in turmoil.
He noted that prior to the inception of the APC led administration, “workers in many states were not paid salaries for months; our economy was badly damaged, there was massive looting” characterized the polity.
He said the present administration was determined to face the face challenges head on.
“Now we have a leadership that has emerged with a will to take on the challenges. Of course, it will take time. The President was humble enough to apologise to Nigerians for the hardship over fuel scarcity, ” he said.
This is not the first time Yakubu Dogara would be pleading with Nigerians to exercise patience with the current administration, recently, the Speaker made a similar plea when he paid the Emir of Misau in Bauchi state, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman a visit.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians have disagreed with President Buhari’s recent statement that Nigeria has technically defeated the deadly Boko Haram insurgency. Expressing their views on Twitter, some described the president statement on the defeat of insurgenc as hasty and untrue.
