DJ Cuppy To Host First Apple Music Radio Show in Africa

Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy has been selected by global music giant, Apple Music as the host of its first ever radio show in Africa.

According to Apple Music, the radio show titled, ‘Africa Now Radio with DJ Cuppy’ will debut on Sunday at 9am, and will last for one hour weekly. The show is expected to feature a mix of contemporary and traditional African sounds including Afrobeat, Rap, House and Kuduro.

DJ Cuppy had earlier taken to social media to announce to her fans that she just signed a life changing contract. she didn’t however reveal details of the contract before the Apple announcement.

“1,000 retweets then I’ll reveal the life-changing contract I signed and dream job I landed! Are you finally ready for the huge newsS???,” Cuppy wrote at the time.

She however revealed it much later, expressing joy at being the first African to hold such a position

“The huge news you’ve been waiting for! Proud to announce my new weekly radio show called #AfricaNow on @AppleMusic #CuppyOnAMission,” she wrote.

I’m the first ever African@AppleMusic@Beats1 radio host? Pinch me! This is for you Africa! Promise to do my people PROUD!#AfricaNow.”

The news comes days after another global music giant DefJam Records announced the launch of its African label, DefJam Africa with top African artistes including Vector.
