Divorce Court: Man marries second wife, then accuses first wife of infidelity

2 Min Read

A house wife in Lagos, Aina Akinbami, has filed a divorce suit against her husband at the Agege Customary Court, citing accusation of infidelity by her husband as her main reason.

She told the court that the marriage is 12 years old and blessed with two children.

Aina said for the past five years, things have changed because her husband no longer trust her, while also trailing her around and accuse her of flirting around with different men.

She added that her husband embarrassed her in public anytime he sees her talking with people.

”Since my husband married another wife without my consent, he has been suspecting me of promiscuity.”

She told the court to dissolve their marriage because she has no freedom in the marriage.

Reacting to the petitioner’s claim, her husband, who is a clearing and forwarding agent,  Abiodun Akinbami, said he is ready to divorce his wife because she is a prostitute.

He told the court that his wife is disgracing him in public because he caught her having sex with a man in their area.

“My wife is not a good wife at all,” he said.

He added that his wife does not take care of the family rather the children buy food outside.

The court President, Emmanuel Shokunle, who ordered both parties to live in peace, adjourned the case till September 1o for judgment.
