Rangers Media Director, Foster Chime, has said that the club had been up-to-date in the payment of salaries and allowances to current players and technical officials.
“We are current with the payment of players’ salaries or allowances,’’ Chime told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Enugu.
He made the clarification while debunking speculations that some players among the club’s 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) winning team were being owed some months salaries.
Chime noted that the club only owed some of its previous players in the past five seasons of the NPFL a sign-on fee package.
“We are working to pay those 2013 sign-on fees to the concerned players. Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has graciously approved a bail-out fund for the club to meet up with the payment.
“However, due to the bureaucratic nature of government, the money has yet to hit the account of players.
“The management has continued to keep the players posted on developments on this particular issue,’’ he added.
NAN reports that the Flying Antelopes will be participating in the Super 4 Football Tournament from Dec. 7 to Dec. 12 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The club will also represent Nigeria in the 2016/2017 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League.
It will defend its 2015/2016 NPFL title and participate in the 2016/2017 Federation Cup. (NAN)
