Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to appear before the National Assembly.
They decried the refusal of the police boss to personally honour the summons issued to him to defend the insistence of the police to prosecute the senator on a stretcher.
Addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with Buhari, the two presiding officers said Idris must obey the laws of the land.
They said that it was strange that the police arraigned Melaye on a stretcher, adding that even criminals are not so arraigned.
In the same vein, Saraki and Dogara promised to expedite action on the 2018 budget to ensure passage before next weekend.
