Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has rejected an offer from Manchester City according to reports.
Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has indicated that the reigning Premier League champions have been unsuccessful in their pursuit of the Vicente Calderon Stadium manager.
It is believed that City made a monumental offer to Simeone but the former Sevilla, Inter Milan and Lazio midfielder is set to sign a new deal with Atleti which will keep him with the reigning Spanish champions until 2020.
“He had a huge offer from City, a huge offer from PSG, from two Italian teams, but he is close to signing a new deal with Atletico Madrid until 2020,” Balague told the ‘Revista de La Liga’ program.
“Five more years, and that is not normal in Spanish football but Atletico Madrid realise they need Simeone and Simeone realises he is happy with what Atletico Madrid does.”
