Embattled American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been placed on suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in New York. This measure was reportedly taken as a preventative step.
It is reported that the 54-year-old, who was arrested on Monday, is currently facing federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. On Tuesday, US Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky ordered that Diddy be sent to jail to await trial.
However, on Friday, Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, told TMZ that the suicide watch directive by MDC officials was merely a routine measure for “new, high-profile inmates.” Agnifilo, who spent six hours with Diddy at the federal lockup on Thursday, stated that the rapper is “not at all suicidal. He was healthy, strong, confident, and focused on his defense.”
