Mrs Diane Ogechi, a movie director and producer, says her organization has concluded plans to start a reality television show aimed at identifying and grooming up-and-coming artistes.
Ogechi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the gesture was as a result of the numerous talented up-and-coming artistes abound in the country.
“This will be a veritable platform for them to showcase their talents to the outside world, “she said.
NAN reports that reality television show is a genre of television programming that documents supposedly unscripted real-life situations.
It often features an otherwise unknown cast of individuals who are typically not professional actors, although in some shows celebrities may participate.
Ogechi also the founder of “My Habit, My Future Initiative’’ said that the event would be rich in musical content that would shape the tones of the green horns in the sector.
According to her, the reality show will commence in January 2018.
She lamented the poor songs most contemporary artistes sing these days adding that they were not encouraging the younger generation.
“Most of the songs in the society and across the world do not portray a good image about the industry and the artistes.
“It is high time we started the “Operation Sing A Good Song’’ campaign that will have positive impact on the people and the society at large,” she said.
Ogechi said that the reality show would also serve as a catch-them-young platform and groom them to sing meaningful songs.
“There is no age limit for the would-be artistes in as much as they have the singing talents. We will train them and channel their minds toward singing good songs.
“The show will run across all the six geo-political zones of the federation,” she said.
Ogechi appealed to corporate organisations, individuals and philanthropists to support the initiative for the industry to thrive.
