Dethroned Kano Emir Sanusi receives wife, children in Awe

2 Min Read

The dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Wednesday, March 11, received one of his wives in Awe, a  town in Nasarawa state.

Sanusi was banished to Awe after being dethroned by Kano state government.

The dethroned emir’s wife visited him in Awe at about 11:45am with three of his children. She arrived in a white Infiniti SUV with tinted glasses.

She was escorted by mobile policemen and officers of the Department of State Security who were conveyed in two Toyota Hilux vans with Kaduna state government number plates.

It was learnt that the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Umar Isa Abubakar; Chief of Azara, Dr. Kabir Musa Ibrahim and Chairman of Aee, Alhaji Umar Da-Akano were in a meeting with the deposed Emir when his family arrived.

Earlier, The Herald reported that former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar has disclosed that a reconciliation committee he headed to bring peace between Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and deposed Emir, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II submitted its report to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said that although the president had promised to intervene in the matter, he was unsure if the Number One citizen actually did.

Abdulsalami disclosed this in an interview with the Voice of America Hausa Service on Wednesday.

The Herald can report that the 11-member committee comprised the ex-Head of State, 2 APC governors, and eight others.

He disclosed that the committee met the warring parties on separate occasions in December 2019, before leaving the two of them together to discuss.

“After conclusion of the assignment, we realised that there was amicable resolution to the crisis. Surprisingly, this is what happened at last,” Abdulsalami said while reacting to Monday’s dethronement of Sanusi and banishment to Nasarawa State.
