Despite Gifting Teachers Money and Cars, APC Slam Fayose Over Teacher’s Welfare

2 Min Read

The Ekiti branch of the All Progressive Congress (APC) have slammed the governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, calling him an enemy of teachers.

Their major grouse is the fact that Fayose is owing salaries this is despite the governor gifting the teachers money and 2 cars due to the high success rate of students in the just concluded NECO exams.

The APC said in a statement that even the success in the NECO exams was due to the structure put in place by former governor Kayode Fayemi.

They also said that while he boasted of being a friend of teachers, Fayose is actually the opposite.

The statement said; “If teachers are important to him as he claims, he would have made payment of teachers’ salaries his priority instead of a needless flyover, new Governor’s Office and airport projects.”

“It is the poor treatment of teachers by Fayose that has turned them to paupers, who steal pots ofamala on fire while some slumped in classrooms because of hunger.”

Fayose was advised to be more like his predecessor and care for teachers’ welfare instead of the current ‘deceit’ he is allegedly playing out.

“After Fayemi approved promotions for teachers and head teachers (some of which Fayose reversed), fixing dilapidated classrooms, approval of relativity pay, core subjects and rural posting allowances, by now, Ekiti teachers should have known which governor treated them better.

“We call on Fayose to stop his cosmetic approach to education and embark on a more fundamental policy. He should take the welfare of teachers more seriously and create a better learning environment to enable the teachers and students sustain their performances to put Ekiti State permanently on top of other states in public examinations.” the statement said.
