Despite coming third in the 2023 presidential election, Julius Abure the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party claims that Peter Obi will be declared the country’s president by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Expressing confidence that Obi will be declared winner of the 2023 presidential election while speaking with some Nigerians in the United States on Monday, Abure suggested that the ruling party would not sleep until they return Obi’s stolen mandate.
The results of the poll are being contested by Obi, who finished third in the February presidential election, and his party.
The All Progressives Congress, (APC), candidate Bola Tinubu’s victory is being challenged, and they want the court to declare it void.
The PEPT’s decision is anticipated to be rendered on or before September 16 according to Abure, who is now touring the US and the UK.
“Following Peter Obi’s participation in the 2023 general election, we changed the political narratives in Nigeria. We gave them a run for their money,” he said.
“They have murdered sleep and they will sleep no more. They have stolen what is not for them and they will not sleep until we recover it all.”
His comment comes as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal announced on Monday that it will soon deliver its verdict on Obi and Atiku’s cases against the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 2023 presidential election.
While many suggest that the PEPT might order a re-run, Abure’s comment is an indication that would mean that the PEPT would toll the line of the Imo election tribunal judgment that saw Hope Uzodinma who came a distant third emerge as the state governor
