Depression among young Nigerians is already becoming a plague as the number of suicides and suicidal individuals have continued to skyrocket in the past few months.
As a matter of fact, academic performance has been the most recurring reason for these sad occurrences and this implies that some drastic steps must be taken in reducing the rate of suicide on campuses.
The latest suicidal incidence occurred yesterday at the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ekiti.
According to a post made by Lere Olayinka, a former aide in the state, a final year student in the school is currently at the intensive care unit of the school’s teaching hospital after he tried committing suicide.
He said to have been one of the many students who failed a particular course in his department but could not forgive himself.
