As part of its COVID-19 palliative program, the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA) on Wednesday, donated relief materials and undisclosed cash to Divine Hope orphanage, located in Kubwa, FCT.
The President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Omobolanle Olonisakin, said the gesture was part of the association’s usual way of providing support to less privileged children in the society during the COVID-19 era.
Olonisakin, who was represented by the association’s Vice President, Mrs. Abies Oghomwen, said that the program had been ongoing and in its third phase.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that items donated to the orphanage include 10 bags of 50kg rice, 77 cartons of noodles, three jerrycans of 25 liters of groundnut oil, three gallons of 25 liters of palm oil.

Other items were three cartons of infant milk, two bags of sugar, one carton of fair glow, one bag of egusi, three bags of garri, five cartons of tomatoes, one carton of Vaseline, and hands sanitizer.
The rest were five cartons of miksi milk, five cartons of peak chocolate, three packs of diapers, five packs of tissue palmers, six-packs of detergent, three bags of salt, one bag of crayfish, three cartons of hypo, six-packs of Molfix diapers.
Also among the items donated were 10 cartons of biscuits, three cartons of nestle golden morn, six cartons of Dettol, 15 mattresses, 15 pillows, one carton of Z germicide, and one packet of lady’s care.
They also donated two bags of maize, two bags of millet, one bag of beans, 15 bedsheets, 15 pillowcases, 10 crate of eggs, 30 pieces of toothpaste, and a toothbrush.
She said that the items donated would go a long in alleviating the suffering the world was passing through and would cater to the children in the coming six months.
The Founder of the Orphanage, Mrs. Grace Chibuzo, commended the association for the gesture and promised to make judicious use of all the items donated to the orphanage.
Also, Mr. Chinedu Chibuzo, the co-Founder, expressed happiness for the gesture while linking the visit to a divine connection.
Chibuzo said the orphanage had 29 children, saying it had been difficult for the orphanage to cope with the needs of the children.
“It has not been easy, but God has been there for us,” he said.
