Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has stated that he will not be tendering an apology to the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe over the demolition of some houses in the town.
Fayose had ordered for the demolition of some houses in the state capital to give way for a new road and the New Oja Oba market.
This led to many people being unhappy with the development and the Ewi of Ado Ekiti had tried unsuccessfully to get Fayose to rescind his decision.
In the aftermath, the APC said that Fayose owed the Ewi and apology for what they called a humiliation and a disregard for a traditional ruler.
Speaking to the Punch, Fayose, through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, had said that there was no problem between the government and the Ewi and that the APC was just looking to foment trouble.
He said, “The APC is confused and desperately looking for converts. What is the business of APC in this matter? Have the Ado people reported the governor to them, or why is the APC crying more than the bereaved?
“There is no disagreement between the governor and Ewi so, he (monarch) does not need any apology from us.”
