Delta state has witnessed a 550 per cent increase in internally generated revenue under the administration of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan during his eight-year tenure.
Gov. Uduaghan made this statement during the commissioning of the Delta State Revenue House, headquarters of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) in Warri.
The Governor who was represented at the ceremony by the state commissioner for finance, Chief Kenneth Okpara said “The DBIR will be at the forefront of Delta beyond oil campaign, all the structures necessary for the attainment of the Delta-beyond-oil goal have been put in place.
“The vision (Delta Beyond Oil) is possible and realisable with the will of Government and cooperation of the people”, he said, adding that staff commitment as well as introduction of modern communication equipment and online payment system accounted for the remarkable success of DBIR.
“Under the new structure, the state government through the DBIR had embarked on aggressive construction of standard revenue offices with 15 new offices constructed across the three senatorial districts of the state.”
The Executive Chairman of the DBIR, Hon. Joel Onowakpo-Thomas also described the government as a continuity which involves every regime.
