The Delta Government said on Friday that it has trained no fewer than 2000 unemployed youths on digital online jobs.
The Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Joyce Overah stated this in Asaba during a ministerial press briefing.
Overah said that the training was conducted in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communication Technology and the Rockefeller Foundation USA.
He said the aim was to provide the youths skills for digital online jobs and also reduce redundancy and idleness among them.
According to him, a social meet-up event for software developers was also organised for the youths in partnership with Google Developers Group to equip them with latest skills in software development.
He said 65 software developers were on hand to provide the technical and motivational support to the youths.
The commissioner said that the ministry faced challenges of limited laptop and desktop computers as well as wide area network infrastructure in the discharge of its duties. (NAN)
