Delta governor sacks aide over embarrassing social media post

2 Min Read
Okowa

The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa has sacked Latimore Oghenesivbe, his Executive Assistant on Communications.

The governor’s aide was relieved of his appointment through a letter dated December 29, 2021, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah,  over “manifest recklessness and insubordination”.

In a Facebook post titled,  ‘Tribal Bigot’, Oghenesivbe accused the governor of treating him unfairly for the past five years that he has worked with him.

He also alleged that some certain persons surrounding the governor were making him nepotistic in his dealings.

According to him, Governor Okowa deliberately denied him certain benefits enjoyed by other appointees in the state government’s media department.

He decried that he only got two 25kg bags of rice and N50,000 out of the N25 million recently released by Okowa to his media team.

But in the letter announcing his sack, the governor said that the recklessness and insubordination of the media aide could no longer be tolerated.

“Accordingly, I am to request that you take necessary steps to hand over all government properties in your possession to the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Government House and Protocol forthwith,” the letter read in part.
