Diego Costa scores first hat-trick as Chelsea defeats Swansea 4 – 2

2 Min Read

Premier League manager of the month Garry Monk, who had a perfect record in the EPL, lead Swansea to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.

The match kicked off with both side playing with a balance between defense and attack. Swansea took the lead in the 11th minute of the game when John Terry converted a low cross into his own net.

Swansea stood strong in defense and played with a determination to claim 3 points, however, 3 minutes to  half time, Cesc Fabregas corner met the head of Diego Costa to score from the centre of the box .

Diego Costa handed Chlesea the lead as he a struck a shot to the high centre of the goal, he was once again assisted by Fabregas.

Swansea tried hard to level the game but they were unable to crack a resilient Chelsea defence.

Jefferson Montero replaced Wayne Routledge in the 66th minute shortly after Diego Costa found the back of the net for the third time with a left footed shot from close range.

More attempts came through from both teams but Chelsea were the  stronger side and sealed the victory with a right footed shot from Loïc Remy. Remy’s goal was his first for Chelsea in his home debut.

Diego Costa now has seven goals in four premiership games.

He is the first Chelsea player to score in his first four games for the club since John Meredith in 1928.

Swansea manager Garry Monk spoke on his club’s defeat saying,”it was a very good first half hour. Some of the football was the best we’ve played this season. I think it just showed the world-class quality they have and in the second-half it took its toll a bit. Their power and strength was too much.

“When you play the top teams you gauge where you are at and what you need to work on. But in terms of effort and commitment we were very good,” he added.
