Absence of four defendants, Moses Nwanne, Rita Agada, Isaac Shagada and Chubuike Ugochi, on Friday stalled their arraignment for alleged fraud in FCT High Court, Kubwa, Abuja.
The defendants are to be arraigned by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission on a two-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and fraud.
The Judge, Justice Kezziah Ogbonnaya, adjourned the case till Feb. 23 for arraignment.
Ogbonnaya said that the date was long enough to enable the counsel reach out to the hospitals where two of the defendants were said to be receiving treatment and ascertain medical reports.
The long adjourned date, she added, was also to enable them recuperate fully.
Earlier, EFCC counsel, Mrs Diane Nkwop, told the court that two of the defendants travelled on medical grounds while the other two were not notified on the change in date of the proceeding.
Nkwop said that the initial date for arraignment was Jan. 24.
However, she said that the commission had written to their various offices informing them on the development and for the release of the officers to attend the sitting.(NAN)
