Defamation: Chef Dammy’s pastor demands N22m in damages, threatens lawsuit

2 Min Read

Founder of Spirit Word Global Mission, Adegoke Jeremiah, better known as Billion Dollars Prophet, has threatened to sue popular chef, Damilola Adeparusi, better known as Chef Dammy, if she does not retract her ‘libelous statement’ against him and pay N22 million in damages.

It was learnt that the popular chef attended the cleric’s church until the duo fell out.

Last week, Chef Dammy set tongues wagging when, in an Instagram post, she said the cleric should be held responsible if anything happened to her.

Her post came months after she undertook a 120-hour cooking marathon organised in partnership with the Spirit Word Global Mission.

She claimed that Billion Dollars Prophet had been threatening, cursing, and bullying her for months after the cook-a-thon which held from June 9 to 13, 2023.

However, the cleric has asked for a retraction of her claim and payment of N22 million in damages failing which a defamation lawsuit would be instituted against her.

In a letter dated October 23, 2023, and signed by his lawyers,  Bisayo Sule & Co Legal Practitioners, Billion Dollars Prophet demanded the chef retract her libelous statement on social media and in two national dailies.

The letter read in part, “In view of the incalculable damage you have done to the good reputation of our client, we demand a retraction of the libelous statement on all the social media particularly your Instagram page, and two (2) widely read national dailies.

“Additionally, we are demanding a sum of (Twenty Million Naira Only).

“N20,000,000:00 being Damages for the act of Defamation against our client.

“Take notice that you have seven (7) days from the date of service of this letter on you, the date of service inclusive to comply with our demand.

“Failure of which we shall not hesitate to seek a redress in the court of law.”
