The internet has revolutionised trade such that many ailing physical businesses have been injected with a breath of fresh air as a result of maximising their online presence.
Many hardworking enterpreneurs operating exclusively online have also sprung up, making cool cash while sitting comfortably in their homes.
However, a downside to this is the dishonesty of some online vendors who abuse the trust of customers, casting a shadow on the integrity of genuine business owners on the internet.
One of such dubious online vendors is DeclutterNigeria on Instagram.
On the surface, the vendor, whose phone number is +2349075289944, operates a legit operation.
The company operates a First City Monument Bank (FCMB) account with Account number: 8760867016 and Account name: DeClutterNG.
It is pre-registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
However, dubious practices by the vendor have rendered its operation suspect.
The Herald learnt that this vendor helps owners sell items for a commission but pockets the entire funds after collecting from the buyer.
It was further learnt that the vendor is currently owing several swindled customers an estimate of N500,000.
Conversation between a victim and @DeclutterNigeria as cited by The Herald:
A careful perusal of the vendor’s page showed that comments on posts are turned off, a move which one of her victims said is to prevent victims from exposing the “scam operation” being run by the page.
Despite owning several owners whose items have been sold, The Herald learnt, the vendor has continued to post new merchandise.
Comments turned off for DeClutter Nigeria page:
Also, the official DeClutter in Nigeria page on Instagram issued a disclaimer on DeclutterNigeria back in December 2021.
It was learnt that one of DeClutterNigeria’s victims has offered a N50,000 reward for information leading to the company owner’s arrest by security agencies.
