“Deal with terrorists decisively or resign” – Ganduje’s aide tells Buhari

2 Min Read
Yakasai

Salihu Tanko Yakasai, a social media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to resign if he cannot protect Nigerians.

He said this in a tweet on Friday morning after it emerged that heavily-armed bandits kidnapped 300 schoolgirls from a school in Jangebe, Zamfara State.

This followed last week Wednesday’s kidnapping of 27 students from the Government Science College (GSC), Kagara in Niger State.

The 27 students, as well as 15 staff and family members abducted alongside them, have yet to regain their freedom.

Yakasai said that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government has failed Nigerians.

“Clearly, we as APC government, at all levels, have failed Nigerians in the number one duty we were elected to do, which is to secure lives and properties.

“Not a single day goes by without some sort of insecurity in this land. This is a shame! Deal with terrorists decisively or resign,” Yakasai wrote.

Reacting to another tweet in which the poster said bad news had become a “norm” in Nigeria, Yakasai noted, “Norm indeed, each time another tragedy happens, we lament, condemn, create hashtag, the govt pretends to do something, no concrete steps to prevent reoccurrence, and then we repeat the process. To what end? Where are those saddled with the responsibility?”

Recall that the governor’s aide was suspended in October 2020 after criticising President Buhari’s handling of the #EndSARS protests.

He was reinstated two weeks later.
