President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a review of the list of newly-appointed chairmen and board members of Federal Government agencies and parastatals.
The review was initiated to wield out dead appointees from the 209 chairmen and 1258 board members, it was learnt.
The Cable quoted Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, as saying that the list was being reviewed by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“The list is being reviewed against the statutes and the acts establishing the various government agencies.
“It is to ensure compliance with the various acts establishing the agencies. Obviously, that (replacement of the dead appointees) is also going on simultaneously,” Shehu was quoting as saying.
No fewer than six appointees on the list announced in late December have been confirmed to be dead, prompting the Federal Government to claim that the list was compiled in 2015.
