David De Gea was clearly the man of the match after he helped his team defeat Tottenham by a lone goal at Wembley on Sunday.
It was Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s first top teams match since he joined the club as an interim coach and he delivered against all odds.
More importantly, he was facing one of the coaches (Mauricio Pochettino) that have been lined up to take over from him at the end of the season. It was indeed a test. He passed.
Manchester United displayed a top-class performance and were up to the challenge that sort of match could present. Particularly, De Gea’s heroics is not something any fan would forget easily.
The team pushed forward as much as they can, getting into danger zones of their opponents and were soon rewarded with a fine goal from Marcus Rashford. The youngster completed a superb team, with the final pass coming in through another spectacular player in the match, Paul Pogba.

After the break, Tottenham’s game improved as the two teams tried to create chances on both sides of the pitch. De Gea then got busy as he made some spectacular saves, His tally at the of the match was eleven, the highest he has ever had when playing against a top ranking team, without conceding a single goal.
Manchester United also had chances to increase their lead through Pogba. On the first occasion, after driving the ball to his favorite foot, the French man saw his effort parried by the impressive Lloris.
Then, in the 62nd minute, his shot was smartly stopped again.
The win means that Solskjaer has now equaled the record set by Matt Busby in the club. He has won five out of five games since he joined the Manchester Giants.
