Since Davido’s cousin Dele Adeleke signified interest and enrolled as a candidate for the Osun state gubernatorial elections, the singer has been blatant in his refusal to support him. This refusal is because the singer’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, is also running for the same position, and Davido’s support has been with the latter from the beginning. The singer has since used his Twitter account to push his uncle’s campaign while dissuading the people of Osun state from choosing to vote for his cousin.
Recently, the singer posted a tweet directed at Soji Adagunodo, the former chairman of the PDP political party of Osun state. Abayomi Ojosegun, the director of news/head of media at People’s Democratic Party (PDP), replied to the tweet, advising Davido to stay away from the PDP chairman, stating that Adagunodo was Davido’s father’s friend and thus deserved the singer’s respect. However, the 30BG boss, who did not appreciate Ojosegun’s unsolicited advice, began trolling him, going as far as sending him a series of violent threats on his Instagram, screenshots of which Ojosegun shared on his Twitter account.
This new version of Davido doesn’t seem to sit well with his fans. They have since expressed their displeasure at his actions, with some advising that the singer focus on his music career rather than dabbling into political matters. Many fans and foes of the artistes have referred to him as immature and compared him to Wizkid, who they believe would never be caught in this kind of exchange. Davido, who seems unperturbed by the backlash, doesn’t appear to have any plans of relenting in this verbal onslaught anytime soon.
Although many have expressed that Abayomi Ojosegun stepped out of line, as Davido’s original tweet wasn’t an insult, they still maintain that the violent threats, body shaming, and trolling that followed are unbecoming of the singer.
