David Mark’s convoy shot at by Fulani Herdsmen

The former Senate President, David Mark was shot at by Fulani herdsmen yesterday during an assessment visit to the destroyed Agatu communities in Benue State.

David Mark who was on the assessment tour with the former minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, a member of the state House of Representatives representing the Ohimini/Otukpo constituency, Hon. Ezekiel Adaji, security aides, journalists and supporters was shot at by fleeing herdsmen.

The security details present were ordered not to exchange fire with the herdsmen as the Lawmakers scampered for safety. Following th incident, the Mark ordered the convoy to continue on their tour which included Aila, Akwu, Okokolo, Adagbo, Akwu, Ogboju and Odugbeho communities destroyed by the Fulani herdsmen.

However, the former Senate President and former minister of Interior escaped unharmed.

While speaking to some of the survivors of the havoc wreaked by the Fulani Herdsmen on the communities, Mark expressed his rented for the unimaginable destruction that had occurred, he called on the survivors to remain calm.

The youth leader in one of the affected communities, Micheal, speaking at Aila expressed their regret at what he termed a porous security in Agatu Local Government Area, he called on the former Senate President to inform President Muhammadu Buhari to remove the soldiers claiming the youth of the communities are now competent enough to defend themselves and their communities.
