David de Gea is on the cusp of leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid after a £28.6million deal was struck between the two clubs.
The Spaniard has returned to pre-season training with United, but is believed to have reiterated his desire for a move to the Spanish capital to manager Louis van Gaal.
And according to El Confidencial, De Gea’s departure is now imminent after United and Madrid agreed a £28.6m deal that will take the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu.
Madrid are understood to have tabled a contract worth around £21.3m over six years – considerably less than United were prepared to offer – with De Gea believed to have already accepted the offer.
Iker Casillas’ impending move to Porto is adjudged to be evidence of how close the deal is to being completed, with De Gea now just waiting for the green light from United to confirm the switch.
