Former Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri has commenended the President Muhammadu Buhari administration for securing the release of the Dapchi girls.
Boko Haram had abducted 110 girls from Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, on February 19 and returned 105 of them to the town early Wednesday.
The release of the girls had drawn mixed reactions across Nigeria and from abroad.
Omokri, a US-based pastor, took to his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday afternoon to laud the government for the feat.
He tweeted, “I commend the Buhari administration for the release of the #DapchiGirls through “back channels”. I welcome the assurances that no ransom was paid. I am sad at the news that some of the girls died and one still remains in captivity because she refused to abandon Christ.
“I urge the Buhari administration to do all it can through its “back channels’ to convince Boko Haram to release Liah, the Christian girl that they continue to hold, allegedly because she refuses to abandon her Christian faith for Islam. I urge no one to politicize her situation.
“Finally, I urge the Buhari government to use their close relations to Boko Haram, which the Minister of Defense described as ‘back channels’ to secure the release of the remaining #ChibokGirls.”
