Danger was narrowly averted at the Yola Airport on Thursday when an aircraft belonging to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) veered off the runway moments after landing, and landed in a ditch, which broke its advance.
This was contained in a Friday statement by Head of Public Relations and Information for the Airforce, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa.
The statement said the incident occurred at 7.00pm when the aircraft was returning from a “late evening attack at the Sambisa Forest”.
The affected aircraft was identified as the NAF Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF/457).
While stating that an investigation had already begun into the circumstances that led to the incident, the statement said no life was lost in the incident as the two pilots came out of the plane unhurt.
